Developed by Raytheon, the Elcan is the flagship weaponsight of the Military Industrial Complex because they never gave a fuuuu about selling to the public.  Never a commercial success, the price has left this optic as more of a collectible and curio for most people despite the excellent durability and performance of this optic.

Prism sights like the Elcan or ACOGs have been outclassed by newer LPVOs (low powered variable optics) and don't have the speed and lightweight benefits of a red dot, so they sit in a weird spot of compromise where they don't do one job better than other options. But they do reach out and do work for CQB distances.

That said --- the Elcan is unmatched for vibes and everyone knows it.
